Fine Dining and Cafés
Food Glorious Food

The benefits of Wollongong's cultural mix are reflected in the excellent collection of restaurants and cafés, all offering a high standard of service and cuisine.

The choice of food is almost infinite and includes dishes from China, France, India, Greece, Thailand, Italy, Spain, Korea, Singapore, South America, USA, Germany, Turkey and Vietnam, not to forget contemporary Australian cuisine.

A Mediterranean atmosphere is particularly evident along the harbour foreshore with its first class selection of seafood restaurants. Here fresh seafood is brought straight from the fishing trawlers to your table. Now that's fresh!

Fine Dining and CafésA Taste of the Orient

The eastern influence is very evident in Keira Street, which is fast becoming Wollongong's very own Chinatown. Here a range of restaurants provide a selection of exotic dishes from China, Thailand, India, Singapore and Vietnam. Also within walking distance are restaurants specialising in traditional Japanese cuisine.

The southern end of central Wollongong is also a mecca for eastern food with a diverse choice of quality eating establishments. In fact, Asian food is readily available in many suburbs throughout the Wollongong region.

Fine Dining and CafésFeast Your Eyes on the View

Wollongong's eating venues are as varied as the dishes they offer. There are numerous restaurants scattered throughout Wollongong offering the very best in cuisine. These range from inexpensive takeaways to lavishly appointed restaurants where customers are greeted by hosts in national dress and entertained with live music. You can choose to dine in a restaurant that overlooks a beach or harbour, high on the escarpment amid spectacular views of the coastline, or somewhere in between. Another option is to dine at one of the many 'al fresco' cafes and watch the world go by.

Delicious Nouvelle Cuisine

For those of you who like to keep up with the latest trends in dining, Wollongong is gaining an enviable reputation for the quality of its nouvelle cuisine. There is a good selection of specialist restaurants to choose from, each producing highly individual and innovative menus. Bon appetit!
