Shopping Shop In Style and ComfortMost people love to shop - particularly whilst on holidays. In Wollongong, the temptation will be too strong to resist. On offer are the very best in big city facilities without the parking and traffic congestion to be found in a city this size. First port of call is undoubtedly the Wollongong City Centre which boasts a first class shopping environment with facilities to match. Activity is largely centred around the mall and two major department stores, Myer and David Jones. Both are within easy walking distance of each other. In addition, over 300 specialty shops and commercial outlets offer quality merchandise, ranging from fashion, home wares and sporting equipment to gifts and accessories. Regional Shopping CentresMajor regional shopping centres are located at Corrimal, Figtree, Dapto and Warrawong. Each offers a multitude of goods and services ranging from everyday necessities through to specialty lines. Of course, each centre has an excellent choice of eating establishments as well. In fact, most suburbs have thriving central business districts. These boast a smorgasbord of unique boutiques and specialty shops to delight shoppers. Markets and Street StallsFor those who can't resist a bargain the Wollongong markets operate every Thursday and Saturday. The stalls sell everything from fashion, pottery and crafts to plants and fresh flowers. The Dapto markets are held every Sunday at the local showground. This market is famous for its bric-a-brac and craft stalls. Two additional venues for locally produced arts and crafts are the Coledale School Markets, held on the fourth Sunday of every month; and the Wollongong Produce & Creative Traders Market, held every Friday in the Wollongong City Mall. Investing in Antiques Antique lovers will be impressed with the large selection of specialist shops offering fine antique furniture, furnishings, ceramics and collectables of all kinds. Two antique centres, one in the heart of the city and the other in the northern suburbs, as well as an excellent choice of antique and bric-a-brac shops offer everything from the commonplace to 'one of a kind' originals. If that's not enough, then a quick trip to the neighbouring Southern Highlands region is a must. First port of call is the Mittagong Antiques Centre where 45 dealers offer a huge assortment of wares.
